Gua Sha is a traditional transdermal analgesic technique with a long history, where a smooth-edged tool scrapes the skin. It's a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that reduces pain(pain relief through the skin) and inflammation, increases range of motion, improve circulation, relieve muscle tension, and promote lymphatic drainage and promotes healing. It's often used for pain relief on the body or for sculpting/depuffing the face.
